How to Start Planning for the Holidays Now

With Halloween now behind us, we are heading straight into the “most wonderful time of the year”- the holiday season! I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel stressed and overwhelmed by all there is to do this time of year- decorating, entertaining, shopping, gift-giving, cooking, cleaning- the list goes on and on… Today I want to share with you a few simple ways to start planning for the holidays now.
1- Grab your calendar
Grab your calendar and take a few minutes to plan for the upcoming holiday season- a quick planning session will save you hours of wasted time and last-minute rushing around. In addition to adding important holiday events and parties to your calendar- be sure to block off days/times for decorating, shopping, cooking, cleaning, wrapping gifts even scheduling some times of rest! This week is the perfect time to do this before things get crazy!
2-Find Holiday Decor inspiration
I always love decorating for the holidays and now is the time to start gathering inspiration for your decor. Maybe you want to add a few new items or switch up your color scheme this year. Check out Pinterest or your favorite decor magazines and catalogs for some fresh holiday inspiration!
3-Take inventory
Carve out a little time to take a look at your current holiday decor and supplies like wrapping paper and tags and make a note of the items you will need to shop for this year.
4-Declutter
While you are checking your holiday supplies- go ahead and dispose of any old items you are no longer using- these are just taking up valuable space!
5-Start a gift list
Now is the perfect time to start a list of gift ideas for family and friends (I actually keep a running list all year long) which comes in super handy for birthdays and holidays!
Remember, a few minutes of planning in November could save you a ton of time in December!
