How to Create a Luxe Spa Bathroom

When decorating a bathroom, I like to approach it as if it were a gorgeous high-end spa.  In other words, make it as luxurious and beautiful as possible. Since we spend much of our time every day getting ready, our bathrooms should be a place of rejuvenation and relaxation.  Here are my favorite tips for creating a beautiful bathroom:

Make it Functional-

Bathrooms are similar to kitchens in that they are highly functional rooms.  These rooms usually come already “equipped” with a tub or shower, sink and vanity, and a commode.  Some other functional items you can add are hooks and rods for towels and robes, beautiful containers or jars for storage for all your various toiletries and products, a bath mat to keep water off the floor, and a shower curtain, if needed…whenever possible, make your bathrooms as FUNCTIONAL and efficient as possible!

Make it Comfortable-

Bringing a feeling of comfort to the bathroom is important, since this room is usually filled with hard tile surfaces…lots of fluffy towels (plain white are my favorite and have the look of a high-end salon or spa), a clean bathmat is nice by the shower or tub, fabric on the window coverings or a fabric shower curtain is nice too.  Look for a fabulous inexpensive bathrobe to hang on a hook for the ultimate in bathroom comfort…and don’t forget the slippers!

Make it Beautiful-

If your bathroom is “en suite” or adjoining your bedroom, try using complementary colors and fabrics in the bathroom for more impact.  Towels, bath mats, and other bath accessories are available in every color imaginable these days, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding something that matches.  Painted walls or wallpaper will add instant style to a bathroom.  Also, be sure to add attractive artwork and accessories for even more beauty.

Whenever possible, try to bring nature into your space by adding a simple bud vase or plant (even if it is faux, no one will know!) on the counter…it’s easy and inexpensive to enjoy fresh flowers weekly by adding a single flower to this vase. Scented candles are also great in a the bathroom, so keep a few handy!

Hope these tips help you when decorating your bathrooms!
