Fall in the Family Room

Thanks for stopping by the cottage today!  Well, I can’t believe it’s October- this year is really flying by!  As I mentioned earlier this week, I have been busy adding pops of color, specifically ORANGE and some fall foliage all around the cottage, and today, I am sharing a few photos of the family room…

Adding seasonal color is easy for me since our home has a very neutral background.  I just added a few large orange pillows to our sofas- mixed with khaki linen pillows, and some fall foliage to the coffee table.

Just a few pops of color give our home an instant “fall look”, textures like the natural seagrass rug, cozy cream cable knit blanket and woven basket also look great this time of year.

I scored this wooden crate for FREE several years ago from a wine shop, and gave it a coat of white paint for a vintage, coastal look- I often use this crate on the coffee table to corral books, magazines and remote controls- and it’s fun to update it for the seasons.

I love having a few designated “seasonal spots” (like this coffee table crate) around the house that I update frequently to keep things looking fresh and interesting.

Everything I used this month for fall decor I have had for a few years, but I did add one new pillow to the couch- this orange embroidered coral pillow from Pottery Barn…

It adds the perfect touch of “coastal” to all the fall decor…I have always struggled with decorating for fall here in Florida, since its always so hot and we get no seasonal change of color outside, but I loved how this pillow mixed orange and khaki with the fun coral pattern!

Thanks so much for joining me today, next week I will be sharing some photos of the kitchen updated for fall, don’t forget to enter to win this month’s contest!
