Five Easy Steps to a Fabulous Fall Table

Thanks so much for joining me today on the blog.  Setting a beautiful table for fall couldn’t be easier, and I want to share with you my Five Easy Steps to a Fabulous Fall Table!

Around here, we have to bring a touch of fall INSIDE because it still feels like summer OUTSIDE!  Setting a pretty fall table is one way I like to celebrate the season.  Here’s how I do it:

Step 1:  Select a colorful table runner or table throw

I’m not really a tablecloth girl…they are very pretty, but a little formal for our lifestyle, so instead, I like to use table runners or now there are some gorgeous “table throws”.  Which is really just like a big square or rectangle runner, I like to casually throw it across the table to add a big splash of color.

The “table throw” I selected today is really a lightweight wool blanket from IKEA.  I just loved the rich blue color and the wool texture made it feel a little cozy.  Don’t be afraid to use ANYTHING you like for a table throw- even just a remnant of a favorite fabric!

Step 2: Add woven chargers/placemats:

One important element of an interesting table setting is adding texture and I love these chunky woven placemats.  We use these almost every night at dinner and they still look great!  The basketweave also adds a touch of coastal and you know how I love coastal decor!

Step 3- Add dinner and salad plates-

I love dishes and lots of different colors and patterns, but 99% of the time I opt for a classic white dinner plate…then I like to add either a colorful pattern salad plate or in this case, I have used a variety of white salad plates.

I found these cute starfish plates at Homegoods a while back and couldn’t resist them…they add the perfect subtle coastal touch!

Step 4: Add goblets, silverware and napkins

For today’s table, I am using our everyday silverware and plastic beaded goblets which look expensive but are super durable and practical!

I also selected my gauzy ruffled white napkins with my Etsy shop oyster shell napkin rings…the big blue table throw added the perfect pop of color so I am keeping the napkins simple.

Step 5: Create a beautiful centerpiece:

I almost always use a large tray in the center of my table…it is the perfect place to arrange a few items for a pretty centerpiece! Today, I used a distressed metal pitcher with grocery store flowers, a big bowl of green apples and a conch shell!  Don’t worry, I had a few pumpkins on the table as well…

The pumpkins add that little touch of fall- apples always remind me of fall too!

I hope this little tutorial helps you when setting your next table- it’s an easy formula and once you get the hang of it, you can create a pretty table for any season or occasion!
