3 No-Cost/Low-Cost Ways to Update Your Home

|

Do you ever feel like your home could use a little updating but you don’t want to spend a fortune on renovations or all-new furniture? Would you like to freshen up your decor but don’t want to break the bank? Today I’m sharing 3 easy “no-cost/low-cost” ways to update your home…

1. Declutter-

I always say that the first step to decorating any room is to first declutter it! Take a few photos of your rooms and take a good look- what items are cluttering up your space? What are you not loving anymore? What items need to be relocated to a new space? Now get to work decluttering those things! Clearing your rooms of excess clutter and things you no longer need/love will instantly update your home, making it feel larger and more spacious- BONUS- decluttering won’t cost you a dime!

2. Rearrange-

Another no-cost way to update your home is to move your current furniture and accessories around- maybe the lamp in your bedroom would look great in your living room, or the mirror over your dresser might be just what you need over the console table in your entry! Even trying a new furniture arrangement in your family room might freshen things up. Whenever working at clients’ homes, I love to move things around to give their rooms a new look, it doesn’t cost anything to try it and if you don’t like it, you can put it right back where it was!

3. Accessorize-

A fun and easy low-cost way to update your home is to add a few new accessories! New accent pillows and throws are one of my favorite ways to add a fresh look to a room. Add a few new houseplants or seasonal clippings to a vase. Maybe try a large tray or basket on your coffee table, or a new mirror or artwork for your walls… I am always amazed at what a difference a few new accessories can make to a room- even keeping your current furniture!

  1. I really liked your idea about taking a picture of your room to declutter. I will use it as my place needs a face lift! Thank you.
