Dramatic Dining/Kitchen Makeover

My clients had a nice size dining area that is adjacent to the family room and kitchen. They already had a fabulous set of table an chairs and just needed some final finishing touches…

Before-

After-

This area was begging for an updated light fixture and we selected this gorgeous grey wood beaded chandelier from Restoration Hardware- it really makes a statement in this space!

To complement their gorgeous grey and blue color scheme, I used this pretty set of four blue sealife prints, framed in black and a large distressed black wood mirror.

This space turned out so nicely- casual but elegant, the perfect setting for any meal!

The dining area turned out beautiful, but the biggest transformation in this house was the kitchen renovation! Here are some before and after photos:

Before-

My clients kitchen was typical of many from 10 or so years ago, brown cabinets, goldish-brown granite counters, iron light fixture, and a beige tile backsplash.  It was all very brown and a little boring…an update was definitely needed, and since the basic layout of the kitchen was good, we decided to work with what was there and make cosmetic changes…

After-

First, we decided to paint the perimeter cabinets a fresh white and add paneling to the front.  We removed the bar height counters and created one large counter height area.

We also added set of cabinet doors to the front of the kitchen, which is a great place to store the kids bookbags, lunchboxes and other misc items.

We chose a beautiful white with grey marble for the countertops

added a set of lighted glass door upper cabinets, and painted the island cabinets a beautiful charcoal-grey for contrast!

We added several pops of blue and white in the accessories, like this bowl and vases…

but kept the backsplash a simple grey glass subway tile with white grout.

The finishing touch are these polished nickel pendants and cabinet hardware- it adds just the right amount of “bling” to this gorgeous kitchen!
