7 Ideas for a Beautiful Outdoor Room

Spring is officially here in Florida, with all the warmer weather, comes more time outside.  I love to decorate outdoor areas with many of the same items I use for indoor rooms, here are some of my favorite design tips on how to create your own beautiful outdoor room…

1. Potted Plants and Trees- Create a lush look and add definition to your space by arranging inexpensive planters with varying heights of trees, plants, and flowers.

2. Outdoor Seating- Unify your patio furniture with similar finishes and neutral cushions, you can mix textures like metal, rattan and teak but keep the finishes similar for a cohesive, co-ordinated look.

3. Outdoor Pillows and Cushions- Extend your home’s INTERIOR color scheme to the EXTERIOR for a seamless look.  Look for beautiful outdoor weather-resistant fabrics for pillows and cushions- they will add color, interest AND comfort!

4. Outdoor Drapery Panels- Draperies aren’t just for interiors anymore…hang some panels near the columns of your covered porch to give a luxurious finishing touch to your outdoor space.

5. Outdoor Art- Find some great “architectural” pieces to hang on exterior walls like ironwork or decorative resin, they will add interest and create a focal point.

6. Outdoor Rugs- Group your outdoor seating and dining areas on a beautiful outdoor rug!  Using a large rug will add color, pattern and interest to an outdoor space and give it a real “furnished” and “finished” look!

7. Candles and Lighting- Once your space is decorated, don’t forget to set the mood for evening entertaining with lots of candles…BONUS citronella candles will keep the bugs away!
